Xerte Online Toolkits (XOT) is a web-based e-learning tool for creating rich interactive screens that are accessible.
Xerte Online Toolkits (XOT) is an open-source software developed by the Nottingham University Learning Team and recommended by the JISC TechDis for its inclusive learning approach. With this tool, teachers or e-learning authors can quickly and easily create a wide range of interactions that include drag and drops, annotated video, quizzes, narrated text, annotated diagrams and more.
Xerte LO's can be easily embedded in VLE's such as Moodle and with the latest version of Mahara can now be easily embeded in Mahara pages too! Here's a link to an example containing an embedded Xerte LO as well as a textwall view http://www.learningapps.co.uk/mahara/view/view.php?id=12
Although XOT is widely acknowledged as an award winning and powerful tool, with many accessibility and usability benefits for teachers and learners alike, many individuals and smaller organisations struggle to overcome the technical and sometimes political barriers in establishing their own installation. Even where an organisational installation is established it's often not fully supported, or regularly upgraded, to take advantage of the regular updates and new developments. We take away those barriers by providing both individual and organisational hosting and support solutions including VLE integration, XOT customisation and also content development.
